What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Create a new document.
2. File, Save As.
3. Type a filename ending in gif (that doesn't already exist in the folder) What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Expected output is saving the file. Instead, I see "Error saving file: Cannot open (insert filename here)"

It does save in the gif format if a file with the filename in question already exists. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? ASEPRITE Version-0.9.6-beta3 on Windows Vista 32 bit

Fixed. Commit: 1b86d61 Note: I've added the possibility to remove read-only attribute from the UI if it's necessary.
